The Amanda Nguyen Memorial Scholarship
The Amanda Nguyen Memorial Scholarship is awarded in honor and memory of Amanda Nguyen, Urban Scholars class of 2019. Two awards of $1,000 each are given to Urban Scholars students from the rising-senior cohort who display the below characteristics representative of Amanda in her time as an Urban Scholar. Composite scores are determined using the following calculation:
- Length of time in Urban Scholars: points possible 1-4 (1 point for each summer participation, e.g. 4 years= 4 points)
- Participation: points possible 1-4 (2 points for full academic-year participation, 1 point for partial academic-year participation; 2 points for full summer participation, 1 point for partial summer participation)
- GPA (recalculated): points possible 1-4 (4 points for a 4.0 or higher, 3 points for a 3.0 or higher, 2 points for a 2.0 or higher)
- Internship experience: points possible 2 (1 point awarded for each completed internship experience through Urban Scholars or a similar program)
